The Green Building on East Market Street announces it is now accepting nominations for the second annual “Acorn Awards”, celebrating the green movers and shakers in Kentucky.
Each year, The Acorn Awards will honor one large corporation and one small business, as well as an individual and a group who benefit our “glocal” community by being good environmental stewards, practicing sustainable development, conserving resources and managing their efficient use, using best practices, reducing waste, or raising the awareness of green issues. We celebrate the success of all the nominees, as well as our eventual annual Acorn Award winners.
The selection committee will be comprised of a selection of Louisville's Green leaders.
An easy way to participate in the green revolution is by nominating a company or individual in one of these categories:
The Acorn Award for Green Leadership to an Individual.
The Acorn Award for Green Leadership to a non-profit Group.
Acorn Award for Green Leadership to a Small Corporation.
(It is anticipated the small companies will be recognized for being on the cutting edge in sustainability practices or creating innovative products.)
Acorn Award for Green Leadership to a Large Corporation
(It is anticipated that the bigger corporations will be recognized for making strides toward greening their business.)
Three finalists will be selected in each category. The Green Building will donate $1,000 to each winner’s Kentucky-based environmental non-profit organization of choice.
Nomination emails of 250 words or less (no letters please…for obvious reasons) should be sent to Stephanie Brothers.
The deadline for applications is December 15th.
Finalists will be honored at Brightside's Green Tie Bash, March 4th, 2011.
